Tablet shipments to outpace desktops in '13

Worldwide shipments of smart connected devices—defined as desktop and portable computers, tablets and smartphones—surpassed 1 billion units in 2012 and were valued at $577 billion, according to data from the International Data Corporation Smart Connected Device Tracker. Year-over-year growth of 29% was largely driven by a 78% increase in tablet shipments.
