Hong Kong – National Geographic has partnered with Blackberry designer and manufacturer Research in Motion to launch an application for Blackberry users in Hong Kong and Australia.
The application features a collection of wallpapers, ring-tones and video highlights from the National Geographic Channel.
Ward Platt, president, Asia Pacific and the Middle East of National Geographic Channel, said the application caters to National Geographic subscribers who are increasingly using their Blackberry smartphone to keep them entertained and informed while they are on the go, as well as winning new fans for the Channel among Blackberry users.
"We aim to create new business opportunities in the burgeoning mobile spectrum with our premium content for our advertisers in Asia," Platt said.
Jeff McDowell, senior vice president, business segment marketing and alliances of Research In Motion, said: "The National Geographic Application enriches the mobile experience for Blackberry smartpone users and is a great example of the type of entertainment and rich content that can be delivered on the Blackberry platform."
