PCCW enjoys profit jump
PCCW’s first-half profit climbed 3.3% due to higher performance of its broadband paybox Now TV and 3G mobile phone businesses.
Net profit jumped HK$822 million ($105 million) from $101 million last year, according to the company, which is controlled by billionaire Richard Li.
Revenue from PCCW’s fixed-line business was up 4% to $1.27 billion. Its $1.18 billion profit helped to offset the $70.5 million loss from Now TV and the mobile businesses.
